monthly recap

Monthly Recap : July ’20

how is it the end of another month, again? ever since i started social distancing, i feel like the days are blurring together, and because of that, i couldn’t even remember whether i did this activities yesterday or last week. i’m thinking of finding a job that could be done from home, but sadly with the pandemic still ongoing jobs are pretty much quite scarce, especially part-time jobs (also, i have zero experience with finding jobs). so yeah, pretty much i did nothing this month except watching movies and tv series, and trying to get a headstart on my undergrad thesis. beside that, i thiiink i cooked a dish? i remember making chicken with mentai sauce (no pics because it’s my first time and it looks ugly, but it tasted pretty good), but i wasn’t sure if i did it this month or last month 🤡 oh, i also revived my bookstagram again, so if you’re interested please check it out ❤

movies :
earlier this month i’m pretty much obsessed with ghibli movies!! it started when i re-watched howls moving castle (one of my faves comfort movies), when i realized that i never watched the other ghibli movies. so i decide to watch all of them in july, but sadly i only manage to watch 6 movies so far. gonna continue watching it in august!

tv series and k-dramas :
pretty much i’m still obsessed with k-dramas right now. i’ve finished when the camellia blooms, vagabond, and hospital playlist, and now i’m making my way through goblin. vagabond and hospital playlist are definitely my favorite (especially the former since it’s so freakin’ cool!!). i also started never have i ever on netflix, and personally i think it’s so light and fun. i can’t wait for s2!

music :
i’m SO OBSESSED with folklore since the day it was released, and even now i’m still listening to it. after listening to it for the hundredth times, i’ve decided that my fave are exile, august, betty, and my tears ricochet. i also have been listening to hospital playlist’s OST on repeat because they’re just that good™.

since i have nothing to do, it means i could blog more! this month, i posted 7 (including this one) posts :

10 authors whose books i’ve read the most

monthly recap : june ’20

this month, i only finished 3 books, which is better than last month but it means i’m still kinda in a book slump. but at least they turned out to be good books :

the gilded wolves by roshani chokshi – 4/5 stars
this book has been in my TBR for a while, but i finally read it when the sequel, the silvered serpents, became a ‘read now’ on netgalley for a few days and let me tell you, i should’ve read it sooner!! the concept is unique, and the characters are so interesting and lovable. i’ll post my review somewhere in august.

more than maybe by erin hahn – 4.5/5 stars
this book basically exceed my expectations and more! if you love music please read this book ❤

the things you can see only when you slow down by haemin sunim – 4/5 stars
it’s my first non-fiction book in years, and thanks to this i realize i should’ve picked non-fiction books once in a while. i picked it up mostly because i was feeling stressed out lately, so i feel like i need to ‘slow down’ my thoughts and try to enjoy life again. this book mostly contains lots of advice about life that i already know in general (such as don’t compare yourself to other), but when i read it when i’m feeling low it’s nice to be reminded again. i’m definitely recommending it if you feel low and need to take a break.

how’s your july? did you do anything fun? as always, if you have any movies/tv series recs please drop them below ❤

  1. I really liked Hospital Playlist too! It felt weird at first because I didn’t know if it’s trying to be touching or funny. But I do enjoy the whole series as a whole and I can’t wait for Season 2 to come out. 🙂

  2. Yessss folklore!!! Love it. Such a good album. Ahh you’ve reminded me that I also have only seen a few Ghibli movies and really want to try some more (have only seen Ponyo and Totoro). Also, so glad you loved The Gilded Wolves, I heard such mixed things about it when it came out so didn’t really pay much attention, but now I REALLY want to read it since its right up my alley and also bc I can read the sequel 🙂 You had such a good month!!

  3. I feel you, quarantine has definitely erased all concepts of time for me 🙃 I haven’t read Things You Can Only See When You Slow Down, but I read his other book Love for Imperfect Things this month and I really enjoyed it!

    Have a great August!

  4. FOLKLORE IS SO AMAZING.
It honestly exceeded my expectations and I just love it so much. Especially betty, illicit affairs and the last great american dynasty which are my top 3 – they’ve just been on repeat since it released!
Hope August is great for you💗

  5. I’m also looking for a job right now, and it must be part-time so I can do it at the same time I study, but unfortunately with the virus there aren’t many places and things are slower. :/ I wish you all the luck in finding something suitable to you! And I hope August is being a good month for you ❤
