hi everyone! welcome to the sign up and TBR post of the Pondathon, created by CW @ The Quiet Pond. When CW tweet that she’s going to host a read-a-thon based on the Pond, i’ve been lowkey lurking around to find out when it happen. i don’t think i’ve participated in read-a-thon before since the timing is never right, but since Pondathon has various teams with different challenges (and one of them is easy enough for me), i figured i’ll give it a try. also, i’m not going to pass up an opportunity to make my own character for Pondathon 😉
♣ what is #Pondathon?
the Pondathon is a co-operative and story-driven readathon hosted and run by CW from The Quiet Pond. the aim of the Pondathon is to read books and collect points to protect the friends over at The Quiet Pond from the encroaching malevolent forces that threaten our friends in the forest. the readathon takes place from January 24th 2020 to March 7th 2020.
if you’re interested to join the Pondathon :
- to join the Pondathon, simply sign up anytime between January 18th 2020 to March 5th 2020.
- choose a team, create your own animal character for the Pondathon and create a character card!
- create a blog post, bookstagram post, booktube video, twitter thread, or whatever medium you wish, with ‘#Pondathon’ in the title or your tweet. share the character you have created and your character card!
- Link back to this post so that others can find this readathon and join in.
♣ character and teams
i mentioned (several times) that you can create your own character for the Pondathon, so meet Calliope, the Sea Sorceress
i made 3 other characters before deciding on this one, and then i manage to spend almost an hour looking for the title before choosing ‘the sea sorceress’. i don’t regret the time loss though, since i have so much fun! also i’ve decided to choose Team Xiaolong, since all you have to do is read books. that’s it, no other requirement. given that i’m about to start my sixth semester of college, i think Xiaolong is the perfect team for me. there are 4 other teams you can choose though, if you want more challenges.
♣ some books (i hope) i’ll read during the #Pondathon
listed below are some books i plan to read during the read-a-thon. since i’m a very moody reader, i’m not sure i’ll actually stick to the TBR, but i definitely will have read some of these books by the time the Pondathon’s finished.
the wicked king and the queen of nothing by holly black
i’m currently re-reading the cruel prince, and i think i’ll start the wicked king just in time for the Pondathon. and right after i finished TWK, i’ll read the queen of nothing.
meet me at midnight by jessica pennington
childhood enemies to lovers? summer pranks? yes please! i got an ARC of this book and i plan to read it somewhere in february.
rebel by marie lu
i think it’s the third time i put rebel in my TBR list, so hopefully i’ll ACTUALLY read it in this Pondathon.
lucky caller by emma mills
i love emma mills’s other books (especially first & then!!), so i’m excited to read this one.
olivia twist by lorie langdon
i got an audiobook of this one last year and it’s a gender-bent retelling of oliver twist, so it seems interesting!
awww calliope is so cute!! and i’m so excited that you’re joining the readathon 💖 you have so many amazing books on your tbr too!
